But, come this time next yeaf, meager efforts against Big 12 compe tition won’t cut it. A&M also won’t have lame SWC prey to feast on and rectify an entire season against. In 1994, A&M was on pro bation, off of television and in eligible for the conference championship. They had noth ing to play for, yet one thing kept the Aggies charged up — pride. That single driving force alone propelled the Ag gies to their first undefeated season since 1956 — and that was reward enough. However, since their disap pointing loss to Colorado, the Aggies have been lacking the fire they possessed last year. In order to be fair to them selves and break out of their complacent mode, the Aggies must approach the rest of the season with a chip on their shoulders. They took a step in that direction last week against Baylor. Talent alone may win foot ball games in the SWC, but that won’t work down the line. It’s obvious the Aggies have the heart anddesireto exceed, or they wouldn't havi been talking national champ! onship a few weeks ago.A&ll can and will succeed in the Big 12. The team just needsn do a little soul searchingani regain its no holds-barredat titude over the course of an entire season. That shouldn’t be too difficult or too much to ask.
