Rollie White Coliseum. By Kristina Buffin The Bati align The 19th-ranked Texas A&M women’s volleyball team re bounded from its five-set loss to the llth-ranked University of Texas last Wednesday night with two wins this weekend. The Lady Aggies defeated Baylor University (4-17, 0-6) Fri day night and Drake University (15-4) Saturday afternoon. In a non-conference game against Drake, the Lady Aggies came out strong by scoring six straight points. The Lady Bull dogs were able to come within five points of A&M after a long rally. However, the Lady Aggies came away with the 15-11, 15-9 and 15-6 win. “I thought it was one of the best starts we’ve ever had,’’ Corbelli said. “Although throughout the match we played impatiently and just wanted to get through it. We’ve been doing that a lot lately. I want them to enjoy volleyball.” Kristie Smedsrud led the team with 13 kills and senior Dana Santleben set the pace with 17 digs. The only problem that the Lady Aggies faced was service er rors — they committed 10. “When we try tougher things, we take those chances,” Santleben said. “It also a little bit to do with a lack of concentration.” In game three, freshman Stacy Sykora and sophomore Farah Mensik were brought in to use their jump serves. “I decided to serve more ag gressive,” Corbelli said. “I don’t care if we miss more just as long as it has intensity.” The Lady Bears came to Col lege Station Friday in hopes of collecting their first Southwest Conference win this season. In stead, the Lady Aggies handed Baylor their sixth straight confer ence loss, 15-5, 15-1 and 15-11.
