worked all summer coming up
with strategies,” she said. “It is
better to hit the problem early, be
fore it happens.
“Bryan and College Station citi
zens, students, faculty and staff
will have the spring semester to
get accustomed to the construc
tion, but out-of-town fans will
have a rude awakening when they
come back for the first time next
football season.
“That is why we are addressing
the problem at the season opener,
so people will know.”
The task force asks that fans
delay their departure from the
stadium by 30 to 45 minutes to
avoid traffic jams.
Traffic lights will be timed to
allow maximum traffic flow away
from Kyle Field. Fans parking
their cars in lots adjacent to Kyle
Field will depart through either a
left-turn only exit or right-turn
only exit onto Wellborn Road.
Elmer Schneider, UPD associ
ate director, said the plan will
have an immediate impact on
traffic during football games.
“As with any new process,
there will be some problems that
will occur,” Schneider said.
Those problems will be ironed
out throughout the year, he said.
“It’s been an excellent oppor
tunity for all the entities in
volved,” he said. “The coordina
tion and cooperation has been
tremendous.”
