Making a splash at E- Walk
Amy Browning/THE Battalion
Elephant Walk symbolizes the senior class
dying before the end of the football season.
To mark that they will no longer be of use to
the 12th Man, seniors march around campus
and remember the good times they have had
while at Texas A&M.
Newly constructed monument
marks former governor’s grave
AUSTIN — They wanted to remember him in
death as he was in life.
So, the first thing you notice about former
Texas Gov. John Connally’s recently erected ceme
tery monument is the commanding height.
It’s tall and strong, and the shiny black granite
draws immediate attention.
“I wanted it to be (like) John Connally was,
and I think maybe it is,” said Nellie Connally,
the former Texas first lady, who was married to
Connally for 53 years. “It would be hard for me
to describe John Connally without 29 adjectives.

compassionate one.”
The grave of Connally, who died June 15, 1993,
