Written and directed by David Mamet, the play takes place in the office of a col lege professor (W.H. Macy) who is about to receive tenure. In the midst of buying his new home, he is interrupted by a young fresh man (Rebecca Pidgeon) who has come to discuss the failing grade she received in his course. Preoccupied with his house plans, the professor hardly tends to the needs of his stu dent. After some persistence, she manages to soften him.
