Red Sox 5, Tigers 4 BOSTON — Dave Valle broke a tie with a two-run triple Wednesday as Boston beat Detroit 5-4 for the Red Sox’ second straight win. Detroit’s David Wells and Boston’s Frank Viola each pitched three hitless innings, then allowed three runs in the fourth. Boston’s came on Mike Green- well’s three-run homer. In the fourth, Eric Davis walked against Viola and scored on Cecil Field er’s triple. Danny Bautista’s single made the score 3-0.
