Aggies begin spring football

U nfamiliar faces were plentiful
at Kyle Field on Thursday dur
ing the first Spring football
practice as seven new coaches worked
with the Aggies.
Among the new crop of coaches
making their A&M debut were offen
sive coordinator Steve Ensminger and
defensive coordinator Tommy Tu-

Ensminger, who will also coach the
quarterbacks, came to A&M from the
University of Georgia where he was
offensive coordinator for three sea

While at Georgia, Esminger coached
and helped develop standout quarter
back Eric Zeier, a senior next season.
Zeier currently holds 6 1 school and 1 1

Men’s tennis aces early season,
to face Owls, Longhorns
By Nick Georgandis
The Battalion
The Texas A&M men’s tennis
team has a dual purpose as they
prepare to take on Rice University
in a match this afternoon at the
Omar Smith Tennis Center.
First of all, the team will at
tempt to extend its perfect 14-0
start to the season, which has
moved the team to 24th in the na
tion.
Second, the Aggies will attempt
to get their conference schedule
off to a good start at home, before
they travel to Austin tomorrow for
a match against the sixth-ranked
Texas Longnorns.
Despite the inevitable excite
ment about any Aggie-Longhorn
sporting event, senior Bernardo
Martinez said because of the tim
ing of the match, the Owls cannot
be overlooked.
“We’ve had a better year than
they have, but that doesn’t mean
much,” Martinez said."This is
conference play, and this is what
