"There's not really a way to en sure the integrity within a person, but what we can try to do is to let our student-athletes and our boosters and our coaches and our staff know that when they take the risk of becoming involved with a violation that there will be consequences." The work of the Compliance Office is made easier by the dili gence of A&M's coaching staff, Zalesky-Ellison said. "Our coaching staff is very competent and good at comply ing with NCAA rules," she said. "We're very fortunate here to have such a dedicated coaching staff." Zalesky-Ellison did praise head football coach R.C. Slocum in particular, because of his work during A&M's most recent NCAA investigation. "I think one thing that came through this last NCAA investi gation was that it was very evi dent of the kind of integrity coach Slocum has," she said. T have drafted a letter to every organization on campus that has Mexican somewhere in the title - the society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists, Committee for the Awareness of Mexican Cul ture and the Mexican Student Association. I will also need help from the Hispanic Business Stu dents Association. Every organization will have a certain task. We'll start out with MAES. Every MAES member must analyze Chavez's loss to Frankie Randell. If they expect to design bridges, com puter programs, and a great deal of other neat things, they better be able to tell me what hap pened to Mexico's finest representative. CAMAC members will be expected to pro mote Mexico's other special athletic features. Tell everyone about Hugo Sanchez, Benjamin Galindo and the rest of the Mexican National soccer squad. After all, this group is expected to do well in the World Cup, which, for those of you who just arrived from Mars, will be played in the U.S. this summer. Aggies might also need to L>e enlightened about Oscar De la Hoya, a fellow Californian, who like myself, has adopted Mexico as his sec ond home. The Mexican Students Association will help a lot if they can call their families and urge the Mexican politicians to invest in a better chin for Chavez. HSBA may be the most important.organiza tion for my project. They must figure out a way to earn enough money so that Don King will hand over Chavez's contract to A&M. Maybe they even can work for somei boosters this summer. Even the College Republicans can getinff my project. Please help a fellow Republican. If that doesn't motivate you, realize that I mer President George Bush has a set of ha! Mexican grandchildren. Remember Aggies, somewhere in theBuf Ubrary there will be a tape of the 1992 Repuli can Convention where his grandson endedk speech with "Viva Bush." Viva Chavez, is just as important. Whenptf pile look at Chavez as a champion again, th will realize there is a strong fighter at the topi his nation. Those suffering through weak-Clintonsfj drome, must realize how terrible it feels to ha; an unproven fighter as the champion.
