Page 8 Texas A&M vs Louisville Friday, November 12,1993 Pullig Continued from Page 5 importantly, we must not have any turnovers." At the heart of the offense, of course, is Pullig. Toledo said he thinks Pullig has matched expectations as he reaches the conclusion of his first full year of starting. "He's doing an outstanding job," Toledo said. "This sea son, he's already thrown eleven touchdown passes, and he directs theVoffense really well." A feature of all great quar terbacks is leadership. Unlike some of the more vocal, drill sergeant types such as Troy Aikman, Toledo said he believes Pullig draws his leadership from the other players' attitudes to wards him. "The guys all respect him for his knowledge," Toledo said. "He has a great understanding of what we're doing and what the defense is trying to do to him. "He gets in the right plays, and he makes good decisions." Pullig came to Notre Dame after being herald ed as one of the state's top three quarterbacks, and his performance continues to match the ex pectations that developed when he quarter- backed for Deer Park high school in Houston. As Pullig's numbers improve with each pass ing game, his youth is mentioned again and again as the only thing holding him back. Pullig said he believes he can only get better. "Each game I play lets me get a little more used to the system, and knowing how it runs (makes me) a little bit better," Pullig said. Toledo said he believed that although Pullig has a few things to work on, his game has con stantly been getting stronger. "He needs to deliver the ball a little quicker and throw more with his body instead of just with his arm," Toledo said. "But that kind of stuff is what the off-season is for, so all he really needs is moke experience to become an even better player." Toledo Corrington Continued from Page 5 well-coached, solid football team which comes in ranked 20th. Last week, however, Louisville was defeated, 45- 10, by sixth-ranked Ten nessee. Whether or not A&M real ized it at the time, an ultima tum was issued in that game. It's as if Tennessee said, "All right. Aggies, we beat this team by 35 points - now see what you can do with them." Texas A&M can gain a measure of national respect with a convincing win Satur day. The challenge is there and a challenge is exactly what this team needs right now. Let's see how the team handles it. A&M Continued from Page 5 and keeping him in the pocket." Brohm's favorite target this season has been junior tight end Jamie Asher. Asher has caught a team leading 48 passes for 837 yards and three touchdowns. A&M defensive coordinator and assistant head coach Bob Davie said the tight end is not a weapon the Aggies are used to defending and could cause prob lems. "In the Southwest Confer ence, we usually see three or four wide receiver sets," Davie said. "The tight end is usually a blocker in this conference but this kid is more of a receiver. "Louisville highlights him which makes it tough to double team him." Entering the game, A&M's of fense has been, for the most part, clicking. The Aggies have scored over thirty points in the last six games. Junior running back Greg Hill has provided a spark since his return from an NCAA suspen sion with two 100-yard games. But he will be tested by Louisville junior defensive line man Joe Johnson and the rest of his counterparts this Saturday. Dausin said getting the ground game going early will determine whether A&M will taste its eighth victory of the year. "Their defensive front is very solid up front," Dausin said. "This is going to be a true test for our offensive line. "It is time for Texas A&M to step up to the challenge and they provide us the opportuni ty-" A&M Sports Briefs Women's tennis ends season in Austin...
