Page 8 The Battalion Monday, September20,1 Lady Aggie spikers split weekend Monday, Se] Fifteenth-ranked Gators bite Aggies on Sunday By David Winder The Battalion )ULI PHILLIP! DAVE THOM BELINDA BLA MACK HARRI After upsetting 21st-ranked Florida State Friday night, the Texas A&M women's volleyball team tried to go two-for-two against ranked teams from the sunshine state over the weekend. Instead, they spent the better part of Sunday trying to catch up to the 15th-ranked Florida Lady Gators as the Lady Aggies fell in four games by scores of 6-15, 15-12, 7-15, 8-15 at G. Rollie White Coliseum. A&M drops to 8-3 while Florida improves to 8- 2. "We needed to play defense and pass a lot bet ter," senior setter and outside hitter Genny Wood said. "They were a very offensive team and we just didn't have it mentally a lot of the time. "We just didn't have the all-around aggressive ness against their big girls and their offense." The Lady Aggies were led by senior outside hit ter Shelia Morgan, who recorded 21 kills and a team-high .326 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Amy Kisling led the team with 14 digs, while sophomore setter Suzy Wente led the team in assists with 45. "I don't know what the deal was," Morgan said. "We just weren't intense enough when we needed to be. It's kind of hard for everyone to come to gether as a team and accomplish what we need to accomplish." Florida was led by middle blocker Aycan Gok- berk with a career high 27 kills and a match high .581 hitting percentage. "They have an offense that we haven't seen much of," head coach Laurie Corbelli said. "They ran a high two in the middle from the left, the right and with number 11 (Gokberk) out of the middle. "They were very effective at it, our blockers were pretty lost." The Lady Aggies will take on Texas Tech Wednesday at 7 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum.
