Campus News Briefs Department head appointed Dr. James R. West has been appointed to the position of head of the Department of F1 Li man Anatomy and Medical Neurobiology at the Texas A&M University Health Sci ence Center. West comes to A&M from the University of Iowa's Col lege of Medicine where he has served as a professor of anato my since "1988. He has conducted research in fetal alcohol syndrome and the effects of alcohol and co caine on fetal brain develop ment. His research in this field has been internationally recog nized and widely published. West earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Wi chita University in 1971 and was awarded a NIMH Training Grant for work toward his doc torate in psychobiology, which he received from the Universi ty of California - Irvine in 1975. bers of the current band and band alumni.
