State News Briefs Austin cable TV to offer options AUSTIN(AP)- The week af- ter a public access cable station aired a show that included gay sex acts, the Austin city council will discuss viewers' options to avoid programs they consider obscene. The discussion, which will be held Thursday in Austin, was prompted by the indict ment of the producer and host of the program "Infosex" on Aug. 23. 'U saw about 45 seconds of that tape, and that was about all I could stand," councilman Ronney Reynolds said Tuesday at a meeting of the City Coun cil's cable TV committee. "I'm also concerned about profanity that we often hear on access channels." Some suggestions at the ca ble committee meeting were placing all public access pro grams that may be offensive on one channel. Neighbors fight over stray cats CORPUS CHRISTIf AP) — A heated argument over a wildly hissing stray cat ended when a 68-year-old retired postal worker pulled a gun on his neighbor, according to an in dictment. Richard Reynolds was in dicted by an Aransas County grand jury last Friday on a third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault. Reynolds allegedly pulled a .22-caliber pistol on his neigh bor, 40-year-old construction worker Gary Ferri. The two men have a long history of dis putes over stray animals, ac cording to neighbors. Apparently, Reynolds can not resist strays, leaving bowls of food at his doorstep. Cotton farmers don't want rain JFK assassin: locked in closet? AUSTIN(AP) - Although Williamson County cotton 3d farmers have suffered through this summer's dry spell, most of them are hoping it continues for at least two more weeks. A heavy rain now could damage the quality of their cot ton, which is ready for harvest, said Ronnie Leps, an agricul tural agent based in Williamson County. Rain can ruin the crop by misshaping the balls of cotton on the plants and bringing the balls into contact with dirt, which reduces the market val ue. Last year, farmers in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties planted 71,000 acres of cotton and harvested 67,900 acres. Last year's production to taled 62,800 bales, or nearly $19 million. WICHITA FALLS(AP)- The brother of Lee Harvey Os wald remains skeptical about a report his sister-in-law once locked Oswald in the bathroom when Richard Nixon visited Dallas. But Robert Oswald, who lives in Wichita Falls, said Ma rina Oswald told him about the incident one month after Presi dent Kennedy was killed. The Warren Commission, conducted the official investi gation into Kennedy's Novem ber 1963 death in Dallas. The commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone assassin. The Wichita Falls Times Record News quoted Robert Oswald saying if Marina Os wald locked up her husband during a Nixon trip, the trip would have occurred in 1963.
