Regents Continued from Page 1 spokesman said. Because of this need, the "A" plan would cost about $500,000 more than the alternative "B" plan the Board approved. However, this second plan would not incor porate the creek directly into the design of the center. The building site for the library is 90 acres of wetlands on the west side of the A&M campus on George Bush Drive between Well born Road and FM 2818. CRSS said 90 acres for the site is an appropriate allocation of land for the project because the extra area will be used as a buffer from traffic and provide room for future expansion. The Board also considered ap propriations for the preliminary design of a computing study com plex and the renovation of the Sterling Evans Library. A microcomputer lab with 600 terminals for 24-hour student use is being planned, said Joe Williams of facilities, planning and construction. In addition to this computing study complex, continuation of the tne library expansion project will take place. And since some 150 parking spaces will be dis placed by this construction, a 300- car parking garage near the li brary is also planned, he said. The Board also heard plans for the detailed design of an Animal Science Teaching and Research Complex. Dr. Edward Hiler, deputy chancellor and dean of agriculture and life sciences, said the Univer sity needs the complex because of the importance of animal agricul ture and A&M's standing as first among the states in this field. He presented pilot designs for four out of five centers that will make up the complex. These include the Thomsen Animal Euthnics Center, Nutri tion and Physiology Center, Beef Center and Sheep and Goat Cen ter. The Board did not formally pass anything Thursday. There gents will formally vote today on all of the construction plans pre sented to it.
