After going 1-2 in the first three matches of the week, the Texas A&M Lady Aggie volleyball team needed a win Saturday over the University of Texas-San Antonio to break even for the week. Led by senior Elizabeth Edmis- ton and junior Kim Mitchell, the Lady Aggies were able to move their record to 15-13 on the season as they rallied from an 8-1 deficit in game five to defeat the Lady Roadrunners 15-9, 15-2, 11-15, 3- 15, 15-13. Edmiston and Mitchell paced A&M with 15 kills each to help the Lady Aggies take the non-confer ence match at the UTSA Convoca tion Center. The Lady Aggies took the first two games easily, recording a .282 hitting percentage in game one and a .274 hitting percentage in game two. But, despite hitting .357 in the third game, UTSA was able able to take advantage of six errors from A&M to pull out a 15-11 win. The Lady Roadrunners were paced by Leslie Dodson, who recorded a school-record 33 kills in the match. The Lady Roadrunners took ad vantage of a meager .143 hitting percentage by A&M in game four to cruise to a 15-3 victory. In game five, UTSA jumped out to the early 8-1 lead, only to see A&M fight back to tie the game then take a 13-11 lead. The Lady Roadrunners tied the game at 13, but kills by junior Sheila Morgan and Mitchell ended the game 15- 13 and gave A&M the match victo ry- A&M swimmers fall in dual meet with SMI FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS Texas A&M's swimming teams both lost in their dual meets with Southern Methodist on Saturday in Downs Natatorium. The men's team managed only 87 points to SMU's 156. Mean while, the Lady Mustang swim team amassed 152 points, which beat A&M's 91. A&M head coach Mel Nash said that both of his teams had ex tremely good showings against the perennial powers from Dallas. "We couldn't be more pleased with the way our kids swam un less we had won the meet," Nash said. "It was an excellent effort. We took our best shot at them, and they came in respecting that. "Even though they were No. 8 last year, they didn't come in play ing around and laying back. They came in ready to go." A&M's 400-yard medley relay "A" team won with a 3:53.59 time. The team of John Hudspeth, Robert Fleming, Matt Michaels and Joe Vasquez edged out SMU's Mond H' "A" team by less than onesecon: "I was very pleased withlli men's 400-medley relay," Nas. said.
