Lawmaker files bill to add three 1 'Jfcil' to commission AUSTIN (AP) — A bill to add three people to the eight-member Texas Racing Commission was filed by a Houston lawmaker, who also wants to do away with the commission’s di vision into horse and greyhound sec tions. “I’m not going to sit here and say I think it is going to pass all the way through, but it ought to be given se rious consideration,” Rep. Ron Wil son, D-Houston, said of his bill. The commission currently has six members appointed by the gover nor. The state comptroller and Texas Department of Public Safety chairman also are members. “I think the governor ought to have more appointments on the commission to make it more respon sive,” Wilson said. “Otherwise, she (Gov. Ann Richards) would have to wait for probably another couple of years before she could have a major ity on the board.” Eliminating separate horse and greyhound sections “could make it run a little smoother,” he said. nBSBHBiiBHBEZHaiSSBSQ Best Parties! ^ H a £ Best Prices!
