AT THE COLLEGE STATION HILTON FREE ADMISSION Call 693-7500 FOR RESERVATIONS Students fly U.S. flags despite university rule SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Defiant Trinity University students are fly ing American flags from dormitory balconies, despite objections from school officials who say the flags vio late residence hall contracts. University officials say the flags, being flown at dormitories to show support for American troops, are not permitted because balconies and walkways are required to be kept “at tractive, neat, uncluttered and safe.” The university allows all-weather furniture, hammocks and plants on balconies, Trinity spokeswoman Sharon Jones said. Students, how ever, are not allowed to hang clothes or banners on the balconies. Brad LaMorgese, a sophomore whose father is retired from the Air Force, said he started flying an American flag on a pole at Prassel Hall when he returned to the uni versity from Christmas break. “They told me to take it down three or four days later, but I keptii up,” LaMorgese said. “They’ve con sistently told me to take it down. “They said they’re considering an exception to the policy, but they want it down until then,” he added “An American flag is attractive, neat, uncluttered and safe, in my opin ion.” He said he won’t be persuaded to remove the flag. Jones said Trinity’s student affairs committee is considering an excep tion to the policy this spring that would allow students to display the flag in accordance with federal law and flag etiquette. wEEKEwpmPEmmsi ~ Sale ends Saturday, Feb> 2 Jim Bean $7" .750 ml 80 proof Tanqueray Gin $16" 1 Itr. 94.6 proof 16 oz. 6 packs 43 $2 Natural Light Suitcases 12 oz cans GOOD -ij;"! 2402 Texas Ave;fg|:-; TJlWipc (in Kroger Shopping Center) , J-v, ,^r, College Station LIUUUK 693-5428 We Take the Time To Listen... and you told us you were interested in alternatives in your obstetrics and gynecological care. r We listened.
