The first ATO chapter was founded Sept. 11, 1865 and was one of the first fraternities to be orga nized in the South after the Civil War. Dwayne Bohac, president of A&M’s chapter, says the fraternity plans to combine the anniversary celebration with its fall 1990 pledge rush. Bohac says four former presi dents of the A&M fraternity will be gin ceremonies by offering views about how the fraternity has changed since it began in 1979. An informal narrative called the “unofficial history of ATO” will re call the beginnings of the national fraternity and look forward to the growth of the fraternity, Bohac says. Following the speech, the 17 pledges attending the ceremony will receive pledge pins and be given a big brother. “We’re hoping to show them a lot of ATO’s history, both nationally and at A&M,” Bohac says. “By com bining pledge-bonding and the cele bration, we have a special opportu nity to show what we stand for.” After pledge ceremonies are fin ished, Bohac said the celebration will continue with a dance. Derek Chamness, ATO’s rites chairman and a senior marketing major from Carthage, says he was excited about the anniversary cele bration and was busy organizing the event. “We have more than 125 people coming to the celebration,” Cham ness says. “We have our 100 mem bers, fall pledges and many alumni from out-of-state coming for this.” Chamness says that although “We’re hoping to show them a lot of ATO’s history, both nationally and at A&M. By combining pledge-bonding and the celebration, we have a special opportunity to show what we stand for.” — Dwayne Bohac, ATO president at A&M ATO’s national chapters officially celebrated the fraternity’s anniver sary in August, he hopes the local chapter’s event will help ATO mem bers remember how the fraternity helped them. “This 125th anniversary has really brought a lot of people together,” Chamness said. “People have called from as far away as California to send their best wishes and to tell me they still feel a part of one big fami ly” 1986 Honda Elite 80 Scooter, excellent condition, low mileage, MUST SELL! $700 or best offer (817)883- 3746. 4t9/20 Doriii Refrigerators 4.2 cu. ft. woodgrain or white $65.00. Gordon Clive Blevins remained jailed Wednesday on $150,000 bond on charges of aggravated sexual as sault of a child and sexual perfor mance of a child. He is accused of fondling and vi deotaping a nude 12-year-old boy at the house in this Fort Worth suburb. Two other men who live at the house were arrested last week on child sexual assault charges. One of the men, William Thomas Fultz, 41, told police he has AIDS. The other man, Fredrick Charles Olsen, 33, is Blevins’ nephew. Fultz has been charged with inde cency with a child, and Olsen has been charged with sexual assault of a child. Blevins, 45, was asked to resign as an administrative technician the same day his nephew was arrested, but a spokesman said Tuesday there is no connection between the arrest and the resignation. Haltom City police Lt. Ron Hewitt said more arrests are expected. “One of the men did a bunch of talking, plus a bunch of the people involved (the victims) did a bunch of talking,” Hewitt said. “We’re looking at possibly two more men. It’s grow ing every day.” The investigation is focused on the residence, where police allege young males were promised money and clothing in exchange for sexual favors. Since August, about eight male victims have told police they were fondled and watched pornographic videotapes there. Police raided the house Aug. 28, arresting Olsen and Fultz and con fiscating 73 videotapes. It was unclear Tuesday how many of the tapes, if any, contained porno graphic material, Tarrant County District Attorney Tim Curry said. Blevins was hired in May 1988 at the attorney general’s office, where he worked as an administrative tech nician in the workers compensation department, said Ron Dusek, a spokesman for the state agency. His job entailed traveling to state agencies and setting up safety proce dures for state employees, Dusek said. According to Curry, Blevins over saw programs at about 40 agencies, including state hospitals and youth centers. PRIVATE PILOT GROUND SCHOOL Meets at Coulter Field for 10 weeks.
