Also during the meeting, Timothy King, vice-chairman for the College Station Census Promotions Commit tee, said the census will be taken on April 1, 1990. The census, which is in its 200th year, is mandated by the U.S. Constitution. In Bryan-College Station, a census form will be sent to all campus and off-campus addresses. King stressed the importance of filling out the forms because it not only insures Texas and each county proper representation in the legis lature, but also determines funds the state and each county receives. Bryan-College Station is predicted to gain more state seats after the 1990 census, he said. “The census is a statement of where we are today and a window for tomorrow for the nation,” King said. The following incidents were reported to the Uni versity Police Department between Jan. 26 and Thursday: HARASSMENT: • A man reported the harassment of himself and his fiancee. The couple occasionally meets at his of fice in Zachry Engineering Center for lunch. He be lieves personnel in his area do not think this is right. Beginning Jan. 15, unknown persons have placed notes or left messages in his office that he considers to be harassing and annoying. The fiancee received a telephone call at her residence on Jan. 24 in which the caller breathed heavily. Investigation continues. • A student reported that someone is calling his room in Aston Hall approximately 10 times a day. The person placing the calls does not say anything and after approximately 10 seconds of silence hangs up the telephone. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: • A man was identified to be one of four individ uals observed by a security officer cutting a tree near. C-l Lounge. The man said the individuals wanted to experience the feeling of cutting down a tree, and he went with them to supervise so that no one would get hurt. Investigation continues. • Someone entered Easterwood Airport property and removed the electric eye and windsock from the mounting bracket located between runways 3 and 4. During the removal of the windsock, which is used by the pilot to determine wind directions, the mounting bracket was severely damaged. Investiga tion continues. • A woman reported that someone slashed the right rear tire on her 1986 Ford Mustang parked in Parking Area 39. • A woman reported that while parked on Lewis Street someone smashed the rear window of her 1987 Chevrolet Nova. • A man reported that someone damaged the hood of his vehicle parked in Parking Area 32 by us ing a sharp object to scratch the paint. MISDEMEANOR THEFT: • A man reported that his blue 12-speed boys Creashaw Isram bicycle was stolen from the Blocker Building bike rack sometime in November. He did not report the theft at that time. On Jan. 28, he located a bicycle in the Chemistry Annex bike rack which he believed to be his prop erty. While searching for the serial number, a man approached him and claimed ownership of the bicy cle. When the complainant relayed the information to the second man concerning the theft of his bicycle, the second man advised him to take the bicycle. The complainant advised police that since his property had been returned he did not wish to know the identity of the subject. Investigation continues. • A Swift model compound microscope was re moved from Nagle Hall. • Four green-and-red lens covers were stolen from Runway 28 at Easterwood Airport. • A set of threading dies and heads were stolen from the University Power Plant. • Two students reported their backpacks stolen. Both packs were unattended. • Seven bicycles were reported stolen from va rious areas around campus. ASSAULT: • A woman was assaulted in her Mosher dora room. The altercation resulted because ofanonjl oing feud between her and her assailant. Investip tion continues. BURGLARY OF A HABITATION: • A man in Law Hall reported that someoneeii | tered his room and removed six pairs of socks from! his laundry basket. Investigation continues. • A Cain Hall resident reported that someoneen tered his residence hall room and removed his JVC; portable compact disc radio, automatic VR35cam i era, answering machine and brown leather jacket. J MISDEMEANOR THEFT/FORGERY: • A woman from Arlington, Texas, reportedtkai her son’s wallet and checkbook had been stolen and ! a check was written on his account at The Footlodeil in College Station. When the son was contacted by UPD toobtainin formation on the theft of his property, he said te wallet and checkbook were stolen Jan. 14 fromtlitj Rudder Tower Lounge. The College Station PolictI Department has been notified of the forgery and wl; continue that portion of the investigation. FELONY THEFT—RECOVERED: • On Jan. 29, UPD was contacted by the San An tonio Police Department in reference to the recoven of a 1984 Datsun Pulsar which was recovered at tin San Antonio International Airport. The vehicle was reported stolen from Parking Area 89 on Nov. 18, 1989. The vehicle was placedii storage pending contact with the insurance compan' that now owns title to the vehicle. DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED: • Three motorists were arrested and chargee with driving while intoxicated in three separate inci dents. The suspects were transported to the Brazo County Jail and incarcerated. UNAUTHORIZED SOLICITATION: • A young female was soliciting magazine sub scriptions in Moses Hall. The responding officer; checked the area but were unable to locate the sub ject. CRIMINAL TRESPASS—TRUANCY: • During foot patrol of campus property, an offi cer observed an individual matching the descriptor of a subject who is possibly involved in the theft oil property from various campus buildings. The subject was identified and found to be truan from A&M Consolidated High School.The boy 1 mother was contacted and informed that he woulc be transported to the Juvenile Detention Centerit| Bryan, and she could contact them concerning hist release. Investigation continues. BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE: • A man reported that someone entered his 197? Ford Mustang parked on railroad property and re moved a portable radio and radar detector. • A student reported the theft of his blue parkin! permit from his 1985 Chevrolet Camaro in parkin! area 50.
