This crossover style has naturally led to comparisons with the Eagles. “We’ve never strived as a band for any one direction other than achiev ing a good sound,” explains Stewart. “What you hear on record is the combination of styles from five dif ferent performers who grew up lik ing different groups and artists. “The comparison we hear a lot is to the Eagles, which is all right since it seems no matter what, you’re going to be compared to someone. I hope one day we’re the one’s that are drawing the comparisons, but for now I certainly don’t mind being compared to one of the great bands of all time.” Restless Heart is completing a stint with the Judds tonight in Waco and will begin their tour with Billy Joe Royal and Baillie and the Boys Friday night. The show is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available at the MSC Box Office for $12.50 (with A&M I.D.) and $14.50. For country fans, Friday’s perfor mance is a good example of the vari ety and disruptiveness occuring in country music. Restless Heart, Billie Joe Royal and Baillie and the Boys offer a contrasting blend of contem porary and traditional country that centers around Restless Heart’s suc cess as both a country and pop act. Because the group is headlining its first tour, Friday’s show is also a great opportunity to see Restless Heart before they become a major country act. Restless Heart’s diversity is no more apparent than when they per form live, combining foot-stomping pop and traditional-country ballads with some unusual twists thrown in (Stewart assures that there are some surprises in store for Friday’s show). “For us, success is having the au dience on their feet clapping and stomping, and really getting into our show.” In Advance 2 MSC Literary Arts Benefit at Sneakers MSC Literary Arts is staging a benefit at 8 tonight at Sneakers in order to raise funds to publish this year’s Litmus, a book of A&M student literary and art works. Performing are Noyz and local bands For Cryin’ Out Loud, burn and Pathetic Sketch. .\V virtually unknown to the ; but you are guaranteed yoir worth from the local groups Aggie Flashbad The following information was gathered from past issues of The Battalion and reflects activities that occurred during this week in A&M’s history. 10 years ago — University Grounds Maintenance Depart ment crews continued the policy of sounding propane cannons around campus to temporarily scare away birds such as grackles, starlings and cowbirds. 25 years ago — The old Music Hall was razed by wrecking crews.
