Our junior and senior years are meant to exemplify these traditions, as well as hopefully create new ones. When the Class of ‘90 soon wanders aimlessly to its grave, I’ll be right there to stomp on it, and show the school which class is the most ded icated to improving Texas A&M. Besides, it will make my momma proud. Class of ’92 Heather West Business Howdy! I’m Heather West and I am very excited about the prospect of serving the Class of ‘92 as council president. As your class historian this year, I have enjoyed working to get the council started, and I want to keep it up! My main goal is to pro mote class unity through awareness and in volvement. More special events, both social and service, will have several functions: to bring people together, to provide opportuni ties for leadership growth and to serve A&M and the community. Let’s work together to keep the spirit of Aggieland! Madelyn Petty Pre-med If elected, I will devote my energy to pro moting class unity. This means making my self easily accessible to you, taking, weigh ing and acting upon (if possible) any of your suggestions, and publicly recognizing your achievements. I believe a problem or issue that is important enough to concern you is important enough to necessitate the attention of your class officers. I am Madelyn Petty — the person for the people. My name is Michael Kelley. nrlsil - As student body president I will work to in- X: r crease safety on campus, to improve the quality of teaching and to alleviate transpor- tation and parking problems here at Texas i ' 'V'. l A&M. As a student lobbyist to the Texas Legis- Michael Kelley Political Science lature, I am presently working to increase funding of the University Police security pa trols and to provide for more TEACHING professors on our campus. As a member of the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Board 1 have worked with the Board of Regents to provide more lighting and emergency tele phones and to increase the number of park ing spaces for students before older lots are closed off to construction. As president I will continually meet with student leaders from around the University so we can discuss the issues that are impor tant to ALL students. This would allow for the presentation of a unified student voice to Dr. Mobley and his administration. I look forward to the opportunity of being able to serve as your president. I would ap preciate your support. Gig ’em! Kevin Buchman Speech Communication Howdy Aggies. I realize that a lot of times we portray the administrators of Texas A&M as competing instead of cooperating with us, the students. As speaker of the Stu dent Senate, however, I have worked exten sively with University officials and have found them to share many common interests with us. The problem is that too often our concerns are not adequately represented. As your student body president, I will work dil igently with students, faculty members, ad ministrators, and local, state and national of ficials to fully represent and support our concern on such issues as campus safety, creating a truly dead “dead week,” protec tion of our inner campus green space, im proving the quality of our library, and re solving the bonfire controversy. As I have stated from the beginning of this campaign, I am here to do something, not for something to do. I assure you our involvement will not end with your vote.
