The infor mation is based on food service establishment reports. SCORED BET WEEN 90 AND 95; e Red Lobster at 817 Texas Ave. in College Station was in spected by Mike Lester. Score — 94. Three two-point deductions were made on the report because there were no paper towels at a hand sink, a dishwasher needed cleaning and some food items were being stored on the floor of a walk-in f reezer. The report also noted that some food items in some coolers needed to be cov ered. • Fat Burger at 725 University Dr. in College Station was in spected by David Pickens. Score —92. Four points were deducted on the report because a rear door was not self-closing. The report said the self-closing device would have to be installed within three days. A total of three points were subtracted on the report because some food items and some single- service items were being stored in an unacceptable manner. A final point was deducted on the report because some trash needed to be removed from the rear of the building. SCORED BET WEEN 85 AND 90: • Julie’s Place at 607 1 exas Ave. in College Station was in spected by Mike Lester. Score — 88. Four points were subtracted on the report because a mop drain was plugged up. Two two- point violations were deducted on the report because a dishwasher and some utensil holders needed cleaning. Four one-point violations were cited in the report for the follow ing: a men’s bathroom faucet was leaking; some floor tiles needed repair; a wall needed repair; some bulk containers needed to be labeled. • Deb’s Deli at 404 E. Univer sity Dr. in College Station was in spected hy Mike Lester. Score — 87. Four points were subtracted on the report because some dirty dishes were stacked in a hand sink. Three two-point violations were subtracted on the report be cause a restroom door was not self-closing, some food items were being stored on a walk-in cooler floor and some garbage needed to be sealed in plastic bags. One point was subtracted on the report because some cabinets needed cleaning, a reach-in dis play cooler needed cleaning and some counters needed cleaning. Two more one-point violations were cited in the report because some single-service items needed to be resealed and a food prepa ration counter needed cleaning. David Jefferson, a registered sanitarian at the department, says res taurants with scores of 95 or above generally have excellent operations and facilities. Jefferson says restaurants with scores in the 70s or low 80s usually have serious violations on the health report. Scores can he misleading, Jefferson says, because restaurants can achieve the same score hv having several major violations oi an abun dance of minor violations. He says the major violations might close the restaurant down while some minor violations can be cot reeled dining the inspection. Jefferson says the department might close a restaurant if: the score is below 60, the personnel has infectious diseases, the restaurant lacks adequate refrigeration, a sewage backup exists in the building, the res taurant has a complete lack of sanitization for the food equipment. Point deductions, or violations, on the report range from one point (minor violation) to five points (major violation). I he department in spects each restaurant about every six months. Sometimes a follow-up inspection must be made, usually within 10 days.jefferson says a restaurant might require a follow-up inspection if it has a four- or five-point violation that cannot be corrected while the inspector is still there, or if there are numerous small violations. Inspectors at the department are registered sanitarians. ‘Forum ’ — cr funny farce that keeps everyone rolling By Karen Kroesche Staff Writer The opening performance of the Aggie Players’ “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Fo rum” was confusing, bemusing and quite humorous at times — in a mindless sort of way. It’s the type of show you chuckle at as you roll your eyes and walk away feeling entertained at the ex pense of your integrity. But that’s just the kind of show “Forum” is in tended to be. It’s a good-natured 20th century spoof of the not-so-or- dinarv, everyday life of the ancient Romans. The Players’ production of this musical farce was riddled with dar ing dialogue and blatant sexual un dertones. The actors and actresses, who were dressed in somewhat ris que Roman togas, kept their respec tive tongues f irmly planted in cheek throughout the show. “Forum” is based on the plays of the Roman comedian Plautus, known as the godfather of popular theater. T he action is built around three houses belonging to Roman citizens — a nobleman, a dealer in courtesans (That’s “pimp” to you and me ), and a senile old man who’s amnesic antics are good for a few laughs. The plot, which never thick ens, is the basic boy-gets-girl sce nario, with a handful of original twists thrown in. The opening number promises that the musical has “something lor everyone” and calls for “tragedy to morrow and comedy tonight,” which is amended in the closing scene fi nale to “morals tomorrow and com edy tonight.” The cast does deliver a good time for all, in the form of lighthearted dialogue that requires no deep thought. Troy A. Herbert (Hysterium) and Donnie Ray Wilson (Pseudolus) gave commendable performances as the conniving Roman slaves who master minded the entire scenario. Their motives differ — Pseudolus is ded icated solely to gaining his freedom while Hysterium is pathetically ded icated to his masters — but together they form a hilariously winning com bination. T he vocal abilities oi the dastardly duo were surpassed only by the resonant voice of Mike Mar ino who played the character of tFfe arrogant Miles Gloriosus. While the action is never edge-of- your-seat type material, the sheer pandemonium of the final scene does lead the audience to wonder how (and when) it’s all going to end. Fortunately for everyone, the play does end happily, with no grave con sequences or philosophical points to ponder. “Forum” will be presented today through Saturday at 8 p.m. in Rud der Theater. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and se-> nior citizens, and can be purchased at the Rudder Box Of fice. 2 Super Tacos • & a Medium drink ? 011/7 $1." J OPEN 24 HRS.
