However, Green said he didn’t foresee any rule changes soon. “Unfortunately, it is a legislative thing,” Green said. “I can’t see any changes coming soon. As far as we’re oncerned, it’s hands off. “Itjust goes to show how treacher ous politics can be. We thought the UIL was bad, but that was before all of this.” Both coaches said the large differ- nce in losses between the varsity and subvarsity levels is a result of the ncreased maturity levels and more ttention paid to varsity players. “Naturally,” Green said, “we’re ping to pay a little closer attention :o a kid on the varsity. We’re going Jo keep closer records on them, luake sure they get to class, turn in llieir work and get to the tutor ses- lions.” dp 1986 FIGrHTIN TEXAS AGGIE FOOTBALL TEAM /THE TEAM IS TAKING THE WEEKEND OFF FOR A WELL-DESERVED REST. (AP) — )th the University of Maryland and the Atlantic Coast Conference issued an official reprimand to foot- ■ball Coach Bobby Ross on Wednes- Ray for his behavior following last Saturday’s loss to North Carolina. ■ As a result of the reprimand from the university, issued because Ross pushed one game official and grabbed another, the coach will not Be allowed on the field for Maryland’s next ACC game, a Nov. 15 meeting with Clemson in Balti more. That means neither Ross nor Clemson Coach Danny Ford will be on the sidelines when the Tigers and Terrapins meet in Memorial Sta dium. Ford received a similar discipli nary sanction for running onto the field and arguing with officials near the end of last year’s contest with Maryland at Clemson. ACC Assis tant Commissioner Marvin Francis said he doesn’t know of any situation in college football where coaches from both schools had been prohib ited from being on the sidelines with their teams. Ross became enraged when North Carolina was granted a timeout with four seconds remaining. With seven minutes left, the Tar Heels had called what Ross had thought was a timeout, but the officials waved off the call. Both scoreboards in Kenan Stadium failed to indicate the change, however, and showed that North Carolina had no timeouts when it made the last call to stop the clock. Lee Gliarmis then kicked a 28- yard field goal as time expired to give North Carolina a 32-30 victory. As both teams left the field, Ross sprinted toward Kenan Field House in the direction of the officials. He pushed by one official, then grabbed referee Don Safrit by the shoulder before he was restrained by a police officer. 'Today's dd car cauM te'1cmrratf's CAzzJc.
