A&M, 4-1 overall and 2-0 in con ference, finally snapped its Astro dome jinx with its 19-7 victory; its first in five 1 ■ tries. The Ag- Analysis gie defense, ' ■■■m playing better football each week, and place-kicker Scott Slater’s four field goals were all A&M needed to drop the Cougars to 1-4 overall, 0-2 in conference. But it shouldn’t have been that close. 1 he A&M of fense couldn’t move the ball into the end zone all day, de spite several good drives and 210 yards in the first half. The Aggies had three first-half series in which ihev punted after just three plays and Slater’s first three field goals came when A&M stalled within Houston’s 20-yard-line. “(Houston) had some stands that were very hard to run on,” A&M Head Coach Jackie Sherrill said. ABC to televise A&M vs. Baylor Saturclav ’s Southwest Confer- ence game between Texas A&M, 4-1, and B; vlor, 4-2, at Kvle Field will be televised by ABC on a re- gional basis The game was scheduled to be- gin at 2 p.i n., but with ABC now televising he contest, the pre- game show will be at 2 p.m. and kickoff is sc heduled for 2:30 p.m. NPV-r' “We had times where we just didn’t do the things we needed to. But we were probably too conservative.” The one time A&M should have play ed conservatively, it didn’t. On a lout th-and-goal play the Aggies de cided to trv for the touchdown, thanks in large part to the loud urging bv Aggie supporters, who easilv outnumbered Houston’s fans in the stands.
