The No. 2 ——— Aggies, SB-11, Softball won the opener 4-0 behind Carpenter’s seven strike outs. A&M second baseman Judy Trus- sell led the offensive attack, scoring two runs after reaching base on sin gles. Carrie Heightly and Erin Newkirk both went 2-for-3 for the Aggies. Gaziano placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run turning in a per sonal-best time of 3 minutes, 44.29 seconds, while Heard took first place in the sprints with a 10.34 in the 100- meter dash and a 20.38 in the 200. Gaziano must cut almost two sec onds off his time if he hopes to meet the NCAA qualifying mark of 3:42.54. Andaya took the loss in both, as she was tagged for a home run in the bottom of the 12th inning of the sec ond game in relief of Carpenter.
