He names Wasson and individuals acting under his authority as mem bers of the public group that oper ates the Micro Center. Under the state’s fair trade laws, public groups that conspire to dam age a competitor’s business through unlawful trade practices can be held accountable for damages. The petition is in a legal hiatus now because a Constable has been unable to serve Wasson the legal pa pers to begin trial proceedings. Texas law allows the defendant, Wasson, 20 days after papers are served to consult with an attorney and prepare for the case. Strangely the two sides are asking to be represented by the same attor ney — Attorney General Jim Mat tox. KLS asks that Mattox represent it and cites the Attorney General’s function to protect the general busi ness public as its argument. How ever, the Attorney General is also A&:M’s attorney in these cases. Hawtrey says he will argue that al lowing the Attorney General to rep resent A&M would be a greater waste of taxpayer’s money. A spokesperson in the Attorney General’s office says a copy of the petition will not be filed with the At torney General until Wasson is served with the petition. She did say that it would be highly unlikely that the Attorney General would not represent A&M. Contract no longer given (continued from page 1) for Apple as a result of the con sortium. All of the programs are standardized for the Zenith comput ers, and an excellent service pro gram is available on campus for computer repair, he said. Cliff Sjognen, director of admis sions for the University of Michigan, said Michigan has dealt with the in creasing need for computer access differently than Clarkson and Dart mouth. “The whole approach here has been to literally flood the campus with terminals so students can access our main frame,” Sjognen said. He said by having accessible com puters on campus, Michigan won’t have to require their students to purchase personal computers. When the program is completed there will be about 1,500 terminals on campus, Sjognen said. All students are required to pav ,i SI00 fee each semester for the serv ice, Sjognen said. He said the fee al lows students unlimited access to ter minals all over the campus.
