Wednesday, November 20,1985/The Battalion/Page 11 A&M’s Corrington voted SWC’s best of the week Associated Press Texas A&M defensive back Kip Corrington, who intercepted a pass in the end zone and made what could have been the game saving tackle in a 10-6 victory over Arkansas, was named The AP’s Defensive Player of the Week. Corrington may have cost Ar kansas at least 10 points. He intercepted a pass just be fore the end of the first half in the Aggie end zone when the Ra- zorbacks were within easy field goal position. Corrington saved the best for last. On fourlh-and-2 from the Ag gie 20, Bobby Joe Edmonds swept left end and was stopped inches short of the first down on a clutch tackle by Corrington. “We were outstanding on de fense from start to finish,” said Aggie Coach Jackie Sherrill “and Kip had a great game.” Corrington is a redshirt fresh man who played at A&M Consol idated and didn’t have to leave town to play college football. Kip Corrington Meanwhile, Tom Muecke played in his final home game with the Baylor Bears. And the senior quarterback, who shared duty all season with junior Cody Carlson, made his farewell from Baylor Stadium a fond one. Muecke rilled three touch down strikes and passed for over 300 yards in a 34-10 victory over Rice to earn The Associated Press Offensive Player of the Week honors. Muecke found out on the Thursday before the game that Carlson’s back was bothering him. “I couldn’t follow through,” said Carlson and Coach Grant Teaff immediately tabbed Muecke to go all the way. Carlson added “I could have played but why take the chance?” Muecke threw a 12-yard touch down pass to Benk Baker and then hit Horace Ates with an 18- yard scoring toss on a fourth-and- one call. Muecke also nailed Glenn Pru itt with a 52-yard touchdown pass. “It was a lot of fun playing the whole game,” said. “I think I held up all right, but I was a little bit more tired than usual. I really en joyed it. I was glad Cody didn’t have to play. We were saving him for the T exas game.” Things weren’t total sweetness and light for Muecke. He had to overcome three interceptions.
