Friday, October, 11, 1985/The Battalion/Page 9 Faculty Senate to discuss sick leave action By MARYBETH ROHSNER Staff Writer A proposal to eliminate the des ignation of “graduate faculty” for some faculty members is one of the issues to be discussed at the Faculty Senate meeting Monday. Senate Speaker Jaan Laane said he also plans to address the Senate on the status of the legal action against the state legislature for the elimination of accrued sicl* leave for approximately 1,700 members of A&M’s faculty. The Senate voted unanimously in an emergency resolution last month “to take legal steps to re dress the grievances” of those fac ulty affected by the legislation. The graduate council’s recom mendation to eliminate the desig nation of graduate faculty is based on the fact that departments usually do not hire new faculty without doctoral degrees and that all faculty are involved in teaching and research. The council will sug gest to the Faculty Senate that all faculty of professorial rank be eligi ble to participate in graduate func tions and therefore be listed in the graduate faculty. The Senate also will decide on course additions and changes! In addition, it will discuss awarding posthumous degrees to those stu dents who die while enrolled in courses that would complete that student’s degree requirements. Laane said that at this time, no rules apply to posthumous degrees. Also on the agenda is a resolu tion to continue the policy of not awarding honorary degrees. The Senate meets at 3:15 p.m. in (301 Rudder. The meeting is sched uled to conclude at (3 p.m. Dallas children complain that state fair too expensive Associated Press DALLAS — According to some Dallas schoolchildren, the Texas State Fair is unfair. A 13-year-old student con fronted city officials with com plaints that prices at the fair are too high for kids. Elizabeth Valdez, armed with 169 letters from other young sters, took her case to City Hall Wednesday. “My brother and I save pennies ' every year,” Elizabeth wrote in her own letter. “This year we '-saved $53 worth of pennies and it isn’t even enough to get on three rides. State Fair general manager Wayne Gallagher said he agreed that prices are high, but said he is powerless to do anything about it. He said fair officials in the past had “strongly suggested” ceiling prices for the food, but a vendor filed a federal lawsuit alleging price fixing. ■ FASHION APPAREL Women's belted pants by Casablanca polyester French canvas in basic colors, sizes 32-38 19.99 Petite sweaters from Regatta; in natural blue, emerald, red, purple or black cotton, p-s-m 19.99 Misses' pants by Rafaella navy, taupe, beige, wine or green cotton corduroy, 6-14, orig. $38 24.99 Misses' blouses by Anne Klein for New Aspects; white, taupe, beige, plum, pastels, sizes 4-14 ...... 29.99 Ms. Chaus shirtdresses in fuchsia, red, cobalt or turquoise; classic styles with long sleeves, sizes 6-16 59.99 Famous maker silk dresses in ivory, geranium or turquoise, misses' sizes 4-14 79.99 Casual jackets by Braefair; contemporary styling; red, white, cobalt, sizes 4-14, reg. $130 99.99 Calvin Klein vests; shaker-stitched cotton in lime, raspberry, cornflower, plum, more, orig. $36 l c .99 Crepe de chine blouses by Josephine, Lady Arrow, Shapley; polyester, in sizes 8-18 17.99 Pant-her' separates in solids or plaids; pants, skirts, blouses, sweater-vests; misses' 8-18 .19.99 and 24.99 Villager cotton/polyester corduroy pants, split skirts; sweaters and shirts, 8-16, orig. $34-40 24.99 Century and Summit skirts; two styles in solid or plaid polyester/wool, sizes 8-18 24.99 Counterparts or Koret Impressions Flatter-Fit pants for misses 6-18, orig. $34-36 24.99 Gloria Vanderbilt cotton corduroy pants with double pleats in front; fashion colors, misses' 6-16 . . . 24.99 ■ JUNIORS Junior blouses by Jonathan Martin; cream or white polyester with bow, sizes 3-13 19.99 Trouser-look skirts by Happy Legs; in heather, black, ivory, charcoal polyester/rayon, reg. $28 19.99 Palmettos trousers for juniors, in polyester/cotton corduroy; seasonal colors, sizes 3-13 19.99 Santa Cruz lambswool sweaters for juniors s-m-t purple, red, black, blue, green, more 19.99 Zena jeans with basic 5-pocket styling in black cotton denim, junior sizes 3-13 24.99 a - , m-m, Junior separates by Calvin Klein - cotton tops and denim jeans; lambswool/nylon sweaters, vests . 24.99 L 1 f I 1 T 1 I TT Junior skirts by Condor; wool crepe in black, cream, grey or mauve, sizes 3-13 29.99 k_)/\ X LJ ixl JAY ■ ACCESSORIES, LINGERIE Fall fashion earrings in goldtones or red, navy, black or teal with goldtone accents . . 4.99-7.99 Napier fashion jewelry; pierced or clip earrings, necklaces or bracelets, orig. $15-40 6.99-19.99 Maidenform No-Show panties; nylon stretch lace bikinis, hipsters, briefs, reg. $4-4.50 3/8.99 Selected bras by Maidenform®, Bali®, Olga', Vanity Fair, Warner's and Berlei, reg. $13-17.50 10.99 Romantic gowns by Gilligan 8<.
