Clint Eastwood and Burt i Reynolds are finally in a film to- i gether. This could be different. A smooth-talking private eye (Rey- i noids) and a hard-nosed cop j (Eastwood) lock horns while trying j to bring rival gangsters to justice. •j Looks as if there is a heavy em- ; phasis on comedy as well as action. ! On two screens. PG, i j j i Places In The Heart: When her husband is killed, Sally Field must take control of her life, her family and the farm. Set in the Depres- ; sion, this film gives Field a vehicle j in which she can prove her talent i and she gives an outstanding per- ! formance. that will surely be noticed : at Oscars time. There is an unnec essary subplot in this one, but over all, it is quite good. Field is worth the price of admission all by her self. PG. Plitt Cinema III 846-6714 Buckaroo Banzai: Peter Weller stars in the title role, a rock star and neurosurgeon who has to save the world. John Lithgow plays a bad guy for a change and Jeff Goldblum also has a role. This film has gotten rave reviews from some critics. It has also been called one of the worst films ever made by other crit ics. They all say, however, that it is zany. Whatever you decide, it is a helluva lot of fun. PG. Give My Regards to Broads- treet: Paul McCartney stars in this one. Somehow the tape of his latest album gets stolen and Paul is out to get it back. The loosely organized plot resembles several videos rolled j up in a movie format. The film fea • j tures some revised vintage Beatles tunes as well as some new' McCart- j ney ones, PG, ZOIO: Roy Schieder. John Lithgow \ and Bob Balaban are three Ameri can astronauts senr aboard a Rus- sain spaceship to Jupiter. Their mis sion is to discover what happened to The Discovery, find out if astro naut David Bowman is dead and decide who or what is controlling the monolith discovered in "2001," Peter Hyams ("Outland") di rects. PG. Schulman Six 775-2468 Teachers: Nick Nolte, Judd ! Hirsch and JoBeth Williams head a : talented cast in this film about a i large city high school. On this cer j tain Monday, the school psychia- i trist goes crazy, a teacher is bitten | by a student and the police have to 1 come in and confiscate weapons I Also, the school is being sued by a | graduate because they let him get I out with passing grades when he j couldn't read or write. With the j current situation of education, this ? is certainly a timely film and nght j on the money. R. ■ The Terminator: Arnold | | Schwarzenegger stars as a half- ■ j man, half-human android type | I who comes from the future to kill ? i the woman who will give birth to ; \ the man who will get the survivors j of World War III together to fight j the machines who caused the war ] and made Arnold. This is your ba sic bloody chase flick, bu t done in a | grander, flashier style. R. American Dreamer: JoBeth Wil liams is an American housewife who wins a trip to Paris by writing a story about Rebecca Ryan, sleuth extraordinaire. On the trip, how ever, she is hit by a car, develops amnesia and takes on Rebecca's persona. Not even Tom Conti, who plays the writer of the real Rebecca Ryan novels, can convince her that she is not Rebecca. French star Giancario Gianmni also has a part in this delightful comedy that is full of slapstick and adventure. PG, Beverly Hills Cop: Eddie Mur phy, in a role written for (can you believe this?) Sylvester Stallone, stars as a Detroit cop who follows the trail of a friend's killer to Bev erly Hills. This is supposed to be a comedy-thriller with tons of action and Murphy is supposed to be as great as always. Paramount exec utives are already discussing a se quel. R. Night Patrol: Linda Blair stars in this film that sounds, not surpris ingly, like the highly popular "Po lice Academy." The comedy should be low and the laughs loud as we learn what happens to policemen while they patrol the lawless city af ter dark. R. IVIissing In Action: The war's not over till the last man is home. At least that's what the ad for this one says. Chuck Norris, karate killer extraordinaire, stars in this movie. He brings the last MIA's out of Vietnam and brings them back to American soil. R. Manor East 823-8300 j A Christmas Story: Peter Hi. I | lingsly (that cute little blond boy in j all those TV commercials and or j Real People) stars in this one, that i is not your traditional Christmas j fare. This comedy tells the story of j a young disillusioned boy who j finds out more about Christmas i than he really wanted to. This is a j re-release from last Christmas and is more than a little funny. PG. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom: Well, it's back. The pre quel to "Raiders of The Lost Ark" stars Harrison Ford once again. This time he's paired up with Kate Capshaw as they rescue three sa cred stones and save several hun dred small children from bondage. The adventure in this one is so heavy it's almost overbearing. PG. Phar Lap: "Phar Lap" tells the story of a great Australian race horse that died of mysterious cir cumstances at the end of an amaz ing career. Tom Burlinson ("The Man From Snowy River") stars along with Ron Liebman. This is a much better than usual horse film and is good family entertainment. For more information see review on page 3. PG.
