Klan plans battle against Sandinistas United Press International BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Ku KIux Klan leader Don Black says once he gets out of prison for violating the Neutrality Act he will organize Klansmen to aid rebels fighting the Sandinista government in Nicara- gua. “Within three months we hope to have the first units of the Nathan Bedford Forrest Brigade in Hondu ras and ready to fight against the Communist government in Nicara gua,” Black said. Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Confederate cavalry officer who be came the first grand wizard of the Klan in 1866. According to Black, Forrest taught guerrilla warfare tac tics to early Klansmen. Black, 30, is serving a two-year sentence at a federal prison in Big Spring for violating the Neutrality Act, which forbids American citizens from launching an invasion against nations with which the United States is at peace. Black, a former medical techno logist in Birmingham, and 10 co horts were arrested near New Or leans in 1981 as they set out to invade the predominantly black Ca ribbean island-nation of Dominica. The Klan grand wizard said he’s not worried about violating the Neu trality Act in Nicaragua because “the Justice Department has indicated by failing to prosecute others involved in this type activity that there is no violation of the act.” Black noted there has been no government action against the Civil ian Military Assistance organization based in Decatur, Ala, which had two of its members killed last month when their helicopter was shot down by a Sandinista rocket. “We don’t intend to work for the CIA, but we will certainly cooperate with any government agency work ing for the same objective in Nicara gua,” said Black. He said he is making a national call for volunteers from Klan chap ters to form a group of 120 highly- trained men to assist the anti-Com- munist Nicaraguan rebels who lost official U.S. aid last month. “We will have members who are experts in agriculture, psychological warfare and military tactics,” said Black. Tractorcade to push woes of U.S. farmers United Press International COUNCIL GROVE, Kan. — At least 50 tractors will start today for the site of the Sunday’s presidential debate to remind President Ronald Reagan and Democratic challenger Walter Mondale of the financial woes of U.S. farmers. Don Cress, president of the Kan sas American Agriculture Associa tion, said Wednesday that formers from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa and possibly Nebraska will drive their tractors to Kansas City, Mo., the city where the presidential candidates are set to debate on Sun day. The KAAA is a chapter of the American Agriculture Movement. The AAM members, as well as members of the North American Farm Alliance of Des Moines, Iowa, are scheduled to drive into Liberty Memorial Park in Kansas City Satur day, where they hope to be joined by a crowd of about 300 supporters for a rally, Cress said. The rally and tractor drive is be ing held to attract the attention of Reagan and Mondale and to protest low farm prices. Cress said. “We just want them (the candi dates) to know that we have prob lems, to address the problems and to come up with some solutions,” Cress said. “Neither candidate has offered any solutions.” Although the debate will focus on U.S. foreign policy, the rally should at least remind the candidates that problems faced by farmers also will need their attention. Cress said.
