State Fair of Texo sets ride stand® United Press International DALLAS — New safety standards for rides at the State Fair of Texas are so impressive they are being used as a national model, says a fed eral safety inspector. State Fair of Texas officials devel oped the standards last May follow ing the Oct. 17, 1983, crash of a gon dola on the Enterprise ride. One man died in the incident and 17 peo ple were injured. The new measures include de tailed inspections on all rides that are built on the fair’s midway and extensive checks of those rides that are permanent, said fair spokeswo man Nancy Wiley.
