(Continued from page 14) imperceptible shaking of his head was visible, as if he was still trying to deny what had happened. Several times the bitterly dejected kicker looked up, tears in his eyes, and tried to say something, anything to explain what had happened. Ev- erytime his lips quivered as he tried to get the words out, only to drop his head again. Finally a couple of huge UTEP linemen passed on their way to the shower and didn’t like what they saw. Pointing an accusing finger in my direction, one of them said, “Hugo, you have to say nothin’ to them, you done good, so you guys (sports writers) leave him alone.” I decided that no quote was worth a stay in the hospital. Castellanos knew that the onlv thing that had beaten them in the game was bad luck, and the left upright of the goal post. A relaxed ana smiling Larry Linne, who caught 3 passes for 70 yards seemed pleased by his team’s play. “Oh yeah, early in the first quarter the A&M guys were razzing us, talk ing to us quite a bit,” Linne said. “But by the third quarter they were slapping us on the butt after the play. We had their respect.” them anything different than we showed them," Linne said. | hr A.*.* an<1 K • ...is < iaiK Slumpw,. ,,, But to put it into perspective the Aggies had everything to lose and UTEP had everything to gain by tak ing chances in the game. Linne chuckled it was mentioned that Brigham Young originally had been scheduled as the first team A&M would face, before being scratched in favor of UTEP. “I heard they were going to play BYU instead of us first, but I don’t think they (BYU) would have shown (M >1 and a litde confused with all tne de fensive shuffling of Aggie players throughout the game. If you have an interest in a particular sports activity, please stop by the Intramural Office (159 East Kyle) one week before the activity opens and fill out a Sports In terest Form. We will contact you the following week with information about the team we place you on. The team locator service will create teams in men's, women’s and corec divisions or place you on a team looking for a few more participants. Although we cannot gurantee you a place on a team, there was a 95% success rate this past year! We also encourage teams that need a few more players to take advantage of this service. We may be able to combine two independent groups to form one team or place some inter ested individuals on your team. But please...stop by and see us today! INTRAMURAL SPORTS WANT YOU Entries for Indoor Soccer open on Monday, September 3 and close on Tuesday, September 11. Get your team signed up before the closing date!!! IM CHANGES FOR THE BETTER! The most notable change in 1984- 1985 was that the entry fee was nec essarily this year by $5.00. This in crease will help us compensate for our increased costs and still maintain the same level of service to you. Naturally, this increase in cost has steered some less enthusiastic competitors away, but hopefully, entered teams will think twice before forfeiting this year. Class is now entirely “round robin” with teams playing in six team leagues. There will be no awards in Class C or Recreational Class. The Intramural-Recreational Sports Staff believe in encouraging teams to play at their most appropriate skill lev els. This is better for all participants in will be' that the competition evenly matched. We will always try to keep)” dated with the changes we our program--and whatevt change it will try to make the pf® better for our participation! This year, playoffs will continue to be played in Classes A,B, and C. No playoffs will be scheduled for the Rec reational Class. The Recreational DORM - COREC INTRAMURALS Did you know that now you can earn dorm points by playing on a Corec Intra mural Team? Beginning August 27, 1984, a new corec point system will be imple mented. Men’s and women’s dorms will now be able to compete in corec sports and earn points for their respective dorms. Dorms may compete in all corec sports (team and dual sports) with either dorms or independents of the opposite sex. However, you must remember to declare the name of the dorm on the entry card and you must meet all dorm and Intramural-Recreational Sports Eligibility Rules throughout the sports season. Any dorm(s) team(s) failing to clarify what dorm or dorms they represent will be considered an independent corec team and will not be eligible to receive points. Points for each sport will be awarded with the same value as the regular point system. At the end of the system, the entry and participation points will be split up among the men’s and women's dorms.
