Garland wives charge
with ordering murders
United Press International
GARLAND — Two sisters
were charged Wednesday with
solicitation of capital murder
for giving $1,100 to an under
cover officer as a down pay
ment to kill their husbands,
from whom they expected to
collect $225,000 in insurance,
police said Wednesday.
Dorothy Scrivano, 53, and
LaWayne Bancker 45, who
work together and share a
house with Mis. Scrivano’s hus

formally charged Wednesday
and held in the Dallas County
jail in lieu of $25,000 bond
each.
They were arrested Tuesday
afternoon in an east Dallas
parking lot on charges they
paid $1,100 to a police officer
posing as a hit man. .
Mrs. Scrivano offered $5,000
to have her husband killed, po
lice said, and Mrs. Bancker of
fered $10,000 to have her hus
band slain.
Li. W.R. Patterson said they
agreed to pay the balance after
collecting on their husbands’ in
surance policies.
“The women wanted their
husbands killed as soon as possi

Asbill. “They didn’t care how.”
