Nellie Babbs was given a 30- day jail sentence and placed in the Ford County Jail. Babbs had failed to appear in court at least twice in a case in volving a Dallas company that offers radio programming ser vices, John Fierro, a Dodge City lawyer for the company, said. and the law permitted me to have Babbs summoned into court to answer questions about their assets,” Fierro said. Kansas Attorney General Robert Stephan, the Anti- Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, the Jewish Community Relations Bureau of Kansas City, Mo., and the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America have filed informal ob jections to the license renewal. Charles Babbs, co-owner of the station, was not jailed in the case. Several regional and national groups claim KTTL has broad cast programs which make state ments against Jews and blacks. Although they took axes to the still, they did not damage it enough to prevent the owner from patching the wounds and starting up the still again. The still was discovered be hind a house by officers chasing a burglary suspect Nov. 5. The suspects escaped, but police noticed a strong odor in the area. But as the officers were leaving, they again noticed a strong odor and discovered the still, patched with rags, back in operation. So the liquor-producing machine again became the target of the officers’ axes. Police, who confiscated a gal lon of mash as evidence, are searching for the owner of the still.
