Page 12/The Battalion/Monday, August 29,1983 Intramural schedule announced for fall by Scott Griffin Battalion Staff For students who want to have some fun or to test their com petitive skills, Texas A&M offers one of the finest intramural programs in the country. For 1983-84, the University will include more than 50 sports in its intramural program and tournaments will be organized by the Intramural-Recreational Sports Department. Entry forms and information are avail able in the intramural office in 159 East Kyle. Sports will be categorized into individual, dual and team competition. Others may be able to get people together within their apartment complex, depart ment, fraternity, sorority or club to compete. INDIVIDUAL AND DUAL SPORTS: Anyone submitting an entry form prior to the dead line is scheduled according to di vision and class selected. Partici pants may be required to supply their own equipment and, for some sports, a new, unopened can of balls. There is no entry fee. TOURNAMENT SCHE DULES: Schedules for team and individual/dual tournaments are posted on bulletin boards in East Kyle on Thursdays after entries close. Class B champions are given certifi- d LIABILITY FOR IN JURIES: Since participation in the intramural program is voluntary, neither Texas A&M nor the Intramural- Recreational Sports Depart ment can assume responsibility for injuries incurred by partici pants. The intramural depart ment strongly recommends that individuals have a physical ex amination and secure adequate medical insurance before parti cipation. EMPLOYMENT: The intra mural department often hires dependable students to work as officials, building attendants, lifeguards, photographers and office workers. Sports officials are the most needed because they are crucial to the success of the intramural sports program. Training clinics are provided, so experience is not necessary. Those interested should contact Tom Weis, assistant director for personnel.
