Kuhn’s final days as commis sioner of baseball are slowly tick ing away, and he needs some power off the bench if he is to survive. Kuhn’s fate is expected to be determined today at the annual summer meeting of baseball’s 26 owners and, unless his supporters can reach a com promise with his detractors, his 15-year term as commissioner will officially end Aug. 12. Kuhn’s supporters are guardedly optimistic that they can find a way to keep him in office.
