Jett recalls having to sleep on cold floors and steal food off other people's room service trays. In 1983, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts are selling out con certs night after night. The group will appear April 28 at 8p.m. in G. Rollie White Col iseum. The concert is sponsored by MSC Town Hall and tickets are $7.50, $8.50 and $9.50. They are available at the MSC Box Office in Rudder Tower. The Blackhearts, with Jett on guitar, Gary Ryan on bass, Lee Crystal on drums and Ricky Byrd on guitar, have spent two years on the road touring and recording. Jett was one of the first artists to start her own record com pany. When no major U.S. label offered a deal to her satisfaction, Jett used her own savings to start Blackheart Records. She had teamed up with producers Kenny Laguna and Ritchie Cor dell to record her first album Bad Reputation. Shortly after that, Jett signed Joan Jett with Boardwalk Records, where she temahYS vn\h her current re- lease, 1 Love Rock and Rod. As New York Post's Ed Naha explains, each of her live shows left ” ... a sonic boom of power- pop and hard-nosed rock in their wake.” On / Love Rock and Roll, Jett proves she can handle the whole rock and roll spectrum. Whether performing classic pop hits like "Crimson and Clover” and "Bits and Pieces" or Jett originals such as "You're Too Possessive," Jett's ability and now recogniz able hard-rocking style make the entire record what is sure to be come another classic rock album.
