Regulatory Commission staff
cited the owners of the controv
ersial Comanche Peak Nuclear,
Power Plant for failing to clean
metal filings from the insides of
light poles installed in the reac
tor core.
Safety inspector Arvill Dil
lingham, Jr., told the staff an im
patient supervisor had kept him
from cleaning the six light poles
before installation.
Dillingham said metal shav
ings could wash out of the tubu
lar poles during refueling and
cling to the fuel rods, causing a
meltdown.
Plant owner Texas Utilities
Generating Co. and the NRC
staff said the poles were too far
away from the fuel core to cause
any such danger.

reward fund, set up to pay
citizens or employees who help
get stolen merchandise re
turned, has been charged with
stealing more than $50,000
from the fund.
Carl Onofrietti, 45, who
worked at Foley’s Department
Store, was indicted Wednesday
on one count of theft and one
count of misapplication of
funds.
Assistant District Attorney
Mel Pechacek said as director of
