Just as it has been for half a century, it’s Wednesday night sing-in at Threadgill’s tavern. Threadgill, 73, and his tiny gas station-tavern have weath ered the bootleg beer days of Prohibition, the rowdy rock- blues of Janis Joplin and the flames of two arsonists to en dure as two of the Texas capital’s most colorful landmarks. Music was a part of Wednes day nights at Threadgill’s from its earliest days. “There wasn’t no money in volved or nothing — it was just people who loved music,” the great-grandfather recalled. “I got me a guitar player and a Fiddle player and we three worked around here.
