[ient : The Justice Department has
refused to discuss the case, other
than to say an investigation is
continuing.
NBC said the investigation
began with the arrest last April
of Douglas Marshall, 27, a for
mer congressional page who au
thorities say became one of
Washington’s biggest cocaine
dealers, dealing to congress
men, members of the Washing
ton press corps and socialites.
Federal authorities say that
Marshall, now a fugitive be

offered a deal by prosecutors to
come back if he will agree to tes

customers in Washington.
In his report, Ross said mem

the House Ethics Committee,
have been hearing secret tes

Congress.
Rudolph Giuliani, an associ

Justice Department, told NBC
the investigation of drug use in
Congress has a high priority
even though it is unusual for the
federal government to prose
cute anyone for using small
amounts of drugs.
“We have to hold public offi
cials to a higher standard,”
Giuliani said.
