Another issue that Chamber- lain is concerned about is water shortage. He said the best way to solve this problem is to bring wa ter down from Alaska and Cana da. He said that at the peak of construction of water transport facilities about 100,000 jobs woidd be created for laborers and about 40,000 jobs would be created for engineers. He said that this would take care of Texas’ water problems for the next 100 years. Chamberlain said that he is more interested in addressing the issues than talking about the other candidates. “It seems that politicians are Grand Opening Southwest Parkway (next door to Pelican’s Wharf) College Station 4. There is real wealth in technology.” A monetarist believes that changes in the money supply have the greatest predictable im pact on levels of national in come. Arbor Day, a tree-planting day observed yearly in most states, has been observed in Texas on Jan. 21 since 1889. About 700 Texas-grown seedlings of pine and live oak trees have been donated for Brazos County’s ceremony, association president Dorothy Miller said. Beginning at 2:30 p.m., County Judge Richard Holm- green will welcome citizens to Brazos County’s first observance of Arbor Day. Eileen Kramer, committee chairman for the program and member of the Texas A&M Uni versity Garden Club, said that association president Miller will talk about the history and mean ing of Arbor Day during the ceremony. Rick Ploeger, city forester for College Station, will explain how to plant and care for the seedlings. College Station temporarily will plant its seedlings at its arboretum, to provide them with special care, Kramer said. In Bryan, the larger trees will be planted along the Municipal Golf Course and in community parks. During the ceremony, a tree will be planted at the Brazos Center to commemorate 1983’s Arbor Day.
