The money will be used for several spina bifida victims. Law Hall residents raised the money for the charity. Hinckley writes to Dallas United Press International DALLAS — In a letter to a Dallas radio station, John Hinc kley Jr. apologized for making a downtown pawn shop notorious after federal investigators disco vered he purchased a gun there — the weapon he used to shoot President Ronald Reagan in March 1981. “I didn’t mean to make Rock y’s Pawn Shop so notorious. I could have bought the gun any where,” he said in a letter re ceived Tuesday by KZEW-FM. Hinckley, a former resident of suburban Highland Park, cal led Dallas his favorite city. “I plan to live there when I get out of the hospital,” he wrote. Mike Rhyner, the station’s morning producer, wrote Hinc kley four weeks ago after seeing other Hinckley letters in the media. Hinckley, found inno cent by reason of insanity of trying to kill Reagan, is confined to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington. Hinckley, who said he lis tened to KZEW’s rock music while a Dallas resident, wrote that he used to listen to rock music while stalking former President Jimmy Carter and Reagan. “I used to listen to the song Heroes’ by David Bowie when 1 was stalking Carter and Reagan. It got me in a strange mood,” he wrote.
