The concert begins at 7:30. Tickets are $4.50 in advance and $5.50 and can be bought at the MSC Box Office. "Jesus saves," is the theme of this contempory Christian quar tet. The group's style ranges from hard-driving rock tunes like "Trumpet of Jesus," to easy listening tunes such as "Give Them All to Jesus." Songs like the group's "Sail On," tend to have the Raggae touch. In recent years the group has been blessed with many awards. In 1981, the Imperials swept the Grammies in gospel music, when they won Artist of the Year, Group of the Year, and Album of the Year. After the re lease of their recent album "Priority," the group won the 1982 Grammy and Dove award for album of the year. The Dove Award is the gospel version of the Grammy. This growth and increase in popularity has taken the group from the traditional church sanctuary into larger secular arenas. Because of the group's great acceptance they became the first gospel group ever to appear on the nationally tele vised Grammy Awards. The group also is the first gos pel group ever featured on ABC's 20/20 and the first gospel The Imperials group to appear on nationally syndicated variety shows such as Mike Douglas and Merv Grif fin. They were also the first gos pel group to institute a national ly promoted concert tour. While they do not attempt to preach at their audiences, the quartet and their six-member band, feel that the message of Jesus should be communicated sometime during their perform ances. They send this message primarily through song. The groups' present members are Armand Morales, Jim Mur ray, Paul Smith and David Will. In the past the group attracted great talent, such as Larry Gat lin, who was in the group in 1971. The group had also helped with major recording and perfo- mances with Elvis Presley and Jimmy Dean. They've played in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Reno. In 1975, the group chose to give up singing secular songs and devote time to gospel music. Through this devotion, the group has seemed to bridge the gap between the contempor ary, southern gospel and the secular music world.
