But Lubbock may be the busiest of all. Three of the five high schools in the west Texas town are headed to the playoffs. Two of them, Dunbar and Esta- cado, meet to decide the District 1-4A title. Both teams are 6-0 in district, and only Estacado has a loss — a 14-0 season opener against Plain view, winner of Dis trict 3-5A. “It’s traditionally a big game, even when there’s nothing else at stake,” Dunbar coach Ken Wallace said. “The boys know each other and go to church together, so this one is for the bragging rights.” Under the UIL’s expanded E layoff structure this season, oth Lubbock schools are assured playoff spots. But second place means a matchup with District 2 winner San Ange lo Lakeview, ranked fourth in the state. “I think the team that wins will have a slight advantage going into the playoffs,” Wallace said. “San Angelo Lakeview has a very good team. That’s not tak ing anything away from whoev er ends up second in that dis trict. Monahans or Andrews will be a tough game too.” Louis Kelley, head coach at Estacado, says he hopes its not the last time he plays Dunbar this season. The two teams could meet again the third week of playoffs. “Boy that’d be great to play them again,” he said. “I hope we both do that well in the playoffs. I hope Monterey goes far too.” Share the I ssfliai “HOMEWORK" * HALLOWEEN HI * * 7:23 9:40 2 * xa,” J * . / G AWP * i.,.- jus—sisfli— Jmotherlode; 7:15 &50 ♦ J JEKYLL & HYDE J X 7:10 9:28 » + IT CAME FROM J } HOLLYWOOD » m m l JTHE SORCERESS! ♦ *MANOR EAST .Mall yanorE AN OFFICER & * A GENTLEMAN I 7:15 8:50 * .+ * +- FANTASIA 7:20 9:45 * * * r ROCKY III 7:30 9:40 ■> * ♦ -* REG SALE 1/2 ct. diamond solitaire $1,860.00 $1,295. 5/8 ct. diamond solitaire $2,160.00 $1,595. 3/4 ct. diamond solitaire $3,070.00 $2,395. 1 ct. diamond solitaire $4,760.00 $3,995.
