Posey tried to stop the lion and was bitten twice in the thigh and pinned to the ground by the animal. Featherston was bitten twice on the leg and clawed across the back when he tried to pull the lion off Posey. Playter administered more anesthetic to the lion when - attempts to restrain the lion failed. The lion died because of the large amount of anesthetic administered, Playter said. “It wasn’t a deliberate kill ing,” Playter said. “It had to be anesthetized to get him to turn (loose of) the student.” Playter said the clinic has handled large cats for several years but this was the first inci dent where people were in jured. Campus Names MONDAY NIGHT — VEAL PARMIGIANA $g25 Brent W. Taber, a junior accounting major from Hous ton, and Nancy Kay Nelson, a graduate student in finance, were elected Student Advisory Directors of the College Station Bank for 1982-83. Jim Scamardo, president of the bank, said Taber and Nelson will attend board meetings and serve as committee members just like other members of the bank’s board of directors. Scamardo said the Student Advisory Director program was designed to give exceptional Texas A&M University students the chance to get practical ex perience in business, economics and finance, and to learn about the inner-workings of a bank. “We are very pleased with this endowment and education program and feel that it has been beneficial to Texas A&M students as well as the bank,” Scamardo said. Taber is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society for business students and received an academic achievement award as one of the top students in accounting for the 1980-81 school year. He ex pects to graduate in May 1983. Nelson, who also expects to graduate in May 1983, received an undergraduate degree in in dustrial engineering. She is a Student Government executive aide, chairman of the Student Academic Council, Mortar board treasurer, vice president of the academic affairs search committee, MBA association treasurer, and vice president Now You Know United Press International Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” is believed to be the most valuable painting in the world, but the husband of the woman it depicts is said to have disliked it and refused to pay for it. Its first purchaser, King Francis I of France, bought it for his bath room. and treasurer of the American Independent Engineers, as well as a member of the University Scholarship and Who’s Who Selection committees. The program was initiated with the election of Brad L. Smith and Ernen M. Haby Jr. in 1980. Smith is now working with Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker, R-Tenn., in Washington. Haby is working for an oil com pany and plans to attend gradu ate school at either Stanford or Harvard. The outgoing Student Advis ory Directors for 1981-82 are Thomas J. Saylak of Bryan and Douglas W. Dedeker. Saylak has accepted a job with the Horne Company, a real estate invest ment brokerage firm in Hous ton. Dedeker has been accepted for graduate school at both Har vard and Stanford and will be gin his studies in the fall. In addition to the experience they receive, Scamardo said they also make every effort to assist student directors in obtaining a career in banking, if that is what they choose to go into.
