In its 17th practice of the spring, the team worked out in shorts and shoulder pads in what Coach Jackie Sherrill cal led a teaching session. He said the workout went well and com mented on several individuals who are making progress. “I’m still very high on Gary Kubiak,” he said. “He is one of the top five quarterbacks nation ally on the collegiate level.” Kubiak completed 12 of 18 passes for 146 yards in Satur day’s scrimmage, and led the offense by passing for three touchdowns. But the Aggie re ceivers earned most of Sherrill’s praise Monday. COUPON “Jimmy Teal (a freshman) is developing into a fine receiver,” he said. “The receiving corps could be one of the team’s strong f ioints next season, once the reshmen arrive.” Teal caught passes worth 69 yards in the scrimmage Satur day afternoon. Sherrill also commented on the alumni game, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday. “(I’m) hoping the student body will help A&M set a spring game attendence record,” he said. People in the community have expressed a great deal of interest in the game but it will take student support to break Notre Dame’s record of 35,000 for a spring contest, he said. Students with a current Texas A&M I.D. will be admitted free, while admission for non students is $5. Tickets for high school students and younger are $2. AH tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The team will practice in shorts and pads today and scrimmage Wednesday in its last workout before f acing the alum ni team. Malone’s three-year. Sl.l million contract with the Rock ets ends this year and the 6-11 mainstay of the Rockets becom es a free agent at the end of the NBA playoffs. The bidding for Malone’s services is expected to be fierce.
