Softball team hosts Aggie
Invitational this weekend
Triathlon
Three-sport event slated Saturday
I : It’s a small tournament, but
bb Brock says that doesn’t
mean it’s going to be an easy one.
■ Brock and the Texas A&M
women’s softball team host the
four-team Aggie Invitational to
day and Saturday at Travis Park
in Bryan. The tournament, a
double-elimination touney, in-
dudes Sam Houston State, Min
nesota, South Carolina and
Texas A&M.
The Lady Bearkats have the
top record of the four teams,
bringing a 26-1 mark into the
tourney. Texas A&M has a 25-3
record, while South Carolina is
21-3 and Minnesota is 5-6.
But Brock says Minnesota’s
record may be deceiving.
“From looking at the four
teams’ records, it’s going to be a
good tournament,” Brock said.
“We’ve been working on our hit
ting all week. We should be
ready with basically the same
team we’ve had all season. We’re
going to give it all we’ve got. All
three of the other teams are
going to be good — even Minne
sota’s good with that 5-6 re
cord.”
Shan McDonald, with a 12-2
overall record and a 0.43 ERA,
will start Aggies’ first game
against Minnesota at 1 today on
Field C at Travis. Texas A&M
will then play SHSU at 3 on Field
B, South Carolina at 6:30 on
Field B and Minnesota again at
8:30 on Field C.

Safety considerations for the

Triathlon here Saturday will re
sult in traffic control procedures
being placed in effect around
portions of the College Station
East Bypass. These measures in

Triathlon coordinator Tom
Weis of Texas A&M University’s
Health and Physical Education
Department said city officials
and police in both Bryan and
College Station are cooperating
in the effort to insure that run
ners and bikers in the event can
perform under the safest possi
ble conditions.
“We have received tremen
dous support and cooperation
from officials in both cities,”
Weis said. “We are most appre
