Portraits with Reveille
to be taken next week
by Lori Weldon
Battalion Reporter
Students who smile and say
“Alpo” can have their picture
taken next week with Reveille.
The pictures will be taken
Monday through Wednesday
from 10 a.m. to noon in 350A
Memorial Student Center.
The prints will be distributed
from a table in the MSC April
21, 22 and 23. Prices are $5
for a 5x7 printed from a single
shot or $6 for a 5x7 picture
printed from a choice of three
proofs, said Sabrina Seward,
vice president of the Tradi
tions Council. Students who
select the $6 package may
choose from the three proofs
in the MSC April 5 and 6.
The Traditions Council
and Company E-2, which
keeps Reveille, hope to raise
up to $ 1,600 from the pictures
and from sales pf 8x10 pic
tures of Reveille. The money
will be used to help pay Reveil
le’s way.
Total expenses for Reveille
are approximately $2,000 a
year. Only about $400 a year is
provided from the Bookstore
Fund. Expenses for Reveille
include about $ 1,200 a semes
ter for transportation, $30 a
month for food, and minor
expenses for occasional veter
inary and coat-cleaning costs.
Last semester, Reveille
travelled with Mascot Cpl.
Drew Laningham to the Uni
versity of California at Ber
keley and to Boston, with each
of the trips costing $500.
Reveille goes to all home
football and basketball games
and any away games in which
she is allowed. Some basket
ball arenas do not allow dogs.
In the past, Reveille’s ex
penses were met by donations •

The College Station City Coun
cil Thursday delayed approval
of $2,000 to remove a conde
mned pavilion in Oaks Park.
The council delayed action so
further study could be con
ducted into alternatives on what
to do with the pavilion.
The pavilion became a public
hazard when one of the struc
ture’s main supporting poles
broke several weeks ago. Closer
inspection by park personnel re
vealed that the majority of the
wooden structure’s supporting
beams had been eaten away by
termites.
The pavilion was built in
1979 at an estimated cost of
$13,000. Examination of the
structure’s construction specifi
cations showed that no provi
sions had been made to have the
wood chemically treated aganist
wood-eating insects.
In other action, the council
approved $47,250 for the pur
chase of a lot behind the city hall
complex. After the city hall is
enlarged, the newly acquired
land will be used for parking
space.
The council also approved
two applications asking for
$ 11,4 11 from state funds to sup
plement the city’s police depart-
information on classes to be ment’s crime prevention prog-
