Texas IVext io 707 Texas sti'uction major, lives in the women’s dormitory with his wife Beth, the head resident. She is responsible for a staff of resi dent advisers who administer housing assignments and prog ram social activities. Beth took the position last fall, two weeks after she and Ben were married. A graduate stu dent in agriculture, she was head resident in Keathley Hall last year. She applied for the position in Clements because housing accommodations for head resi dents in modular dormitories, as well as in the Commons dormi tories, allow spouses to room together. Those accommoda tions are bedroom and bath along with a kitchen and lounge area. At least one other couple has lived in a residence hall, and re sidents seem to like the idea once they get used to it. “The freshmen even call him Dad,” Beth said. “A lot of people like having him around.” Residents learned that Ben would be living there at the first dormitory meeting of the fall semester. Many were surprised that a man would be allowd to live in a women’s dormitory. Kim Miller, a freshman che mical engineering major from Houston, said: “It seemed strange at first but I don’t mind now. We never see him that much.” Polly Parker, a freshman pet roleum engineering major from San Antonio, said: “I think it’s good having a guy down the hall — it’s a type of security.” A fifth-year senior, Adams is involved with dorm activities, is coach of the dorm basketball team and is the dorm beau. He said living in Clements is very different from what he’s used to — he lived in the Corps of Cadet’s dormitories for four years. Marriage to the head resident has its advantages, Adams said. Since he lived in dormitories for four years, he would be unable to live on campus at all if he we ren’t living with his wife in Cle ments. eASA TOMAS February Specials _ „„ Cheese Enchilada Dinner....2 8 11 - 2pm Mon-Fri Plus 99° Frozen Margaritas - All during February Tampico Dinner Reg. 4.95 Guacamole Salad, Beef taco Tamale, Enchilada, Rice & Beans Tacos Al Carbon Reg. 5.95 Marinated & Charbroiled Steak, wrapped in flour tortillas, Garnished with Pico de Gallo.
