The College of Liberal Arts and the College of Architecture and Environmental Design will co-sponsor a study program in Italy for Texas A&M students May 17 through June 18. An mtormational meeting for students interested in the program will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday in 302 Rudder. The five-week program, to be taught by Texas A&M faculty members, will allow students to earn up to six hours of credit in a variety of humanities and fine arts courses, said Daniel F. MacGilvray, coordinator of the program, said students will live and study in La Poggerina Monastery, in Figline, Italy. The monastery — actually a remod eled study center with dormitor ies — is about 19 miles from Florence and has a housing capacity of 100 students. Any Texas A&M student is eligible to attend the summer study, MacGilvray said. The program will cost $2,000 and will include round-trip air fare from Houston, room and board at the monastery, in-state tuition and fees and field trips to sur rounding areas. MacGilvray said Wednesday’s meeting will include a slide show of Florence and the monastery, a discussion of costs and infor mation about available financial aid. Students also will meet the four program instructors who will discuss the courses to be taught this summer. The instructors for the sum mer will be Joe Hutchinson, pro fessor of environmental design; Julie Lepick, assistant professor of English; Hugh McCann, asso ciate professor of philosophy; and Tony Stranges, assistant professor of history.
