local / state Battalion/Page 5 January 22, 1982 RHA commends Vandiver’s work by Johna Jo Maurer Battalion Staff The Texas A&M Residence Hall Association has unani mously approved sending a let ter of commendation to Univer sity President Frank E. Vandiver for a job well done. Stacy Graf, director of exter nal affairs for the RHA, said Thursday that the letter was the idea of the entire RHA board. She said because of all the nega tive media attention being dire cted at Texas A&M University on the issue of the athletic dire ctor and head football coach search in the past few weeks, the RHA wanted to address Vandiv er in a positive way. Tim Ryan, RHA president, said the RHA’s function is to bring the student body together. Acting as a representative of the 10,000 dorm residents on cam pus, Ryan asked members for their opinion of the congratula tory letter proposed. Brett Peabody, programs di rector of RHA, said a workshop for dorm presidents and repre sentatives is planned for Sun day, Jan. 31. He said the work shop should help get things started for the residence halls. The “Lock Up and Look Out” program was discussed by Tracy Moy, director of facilities and operations of RHA. This cam pus-wide security program sponsored by RHA is designed to make dorm residents aware of security problems. Further in formation on this project, plan ned for Feb. 15-28, will be avail able soon. The Texas Residence Hall Association Conference also was announced.
